Experience William Wellman’s epic film Wings as never before with live musical accompaniment! Winner of the first Academy Award for Best Picture, the World War I silent film has captured the imagination of fans since its release in 1927. Join actor and writer William Wellman Jr. as he introduces the film, which tells the story of two American fighter pilots and their aerial triumphs and defeats. Enjoy this can’t-miss screening of the Great War classic as it was meant to be experienced, with an improvised score performed by organist Peter Krasinski.
Presented in conjunction with the centennial exhibition, Crucible Life and Death in 1918, featuring objects and artifacts that belonged to WWI pilot and director of Wings, William Wellman. Presented in partnership with The Kansas City Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Unity Temple.
